Hey there, I’m Colin. I have a host of interests, and lots of projects going on at any given time. By day I am a United States Army officer, and by night I could be doing anything from writing about coffee to experimenting with home automation. This site works as a kind of “hub” for me; here you can find links and information about my life and what I’m passionate about.

If you want to get in touch, refer to the “contact” tab at the top of the page. Feel free to shoot me an email or connect with me on social media. The “coffee” tab will give you a drop down – from there you can choose to check out my coffee blog, or click over to my podcast – more on that below. The “freelance” tab will take you to my Social Media Consulting website. If you hover over the social media tab, you can find where I like to post things.

The “blog” portion of my website acts as a catchall. As a committed Christian, sometimes I’ll write about faith. Lately I’ve been having a lot of fun with home automation, so I’ll probably write about that as well. I’m a huge In-N-Out and Apple fan, so those topics might come up from time-to-time (if you like Five Guys more than In-N-Out, fight me).

Additionally, I run a coffee themed weekly podcast aptly named The Boise Coffee Podcast (iTunes Link). Check it out, and hit me up if you’d like to chat about coffee!

About Me

Born in Boise, Idaho in 1992, I was raised by two wonderful parents with two siblings that I love deeply. I had a great childhood in Boise – it’s honestly one of the best places on earth. While my family wasn’t wealthy by any stretch of the imagination, my parents dedicated time and money towards going on family trips around the world – something that I’ve continued since being out on my own. Traveling is something I’m passionate about, and my favorite destinations include Australia, Israel, and Italy.

I graduated from the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in American Politics, and commissioned as a 2LT in the United States Army. In September 2015 I married the love of my life, Hannah, and we currently live in El Paso, TX with our blind dog, Cocoa.

Some of my favorite books include Fahrenheit 451, Brave New World, The Federalist Papers, the Song of Albion trilogy, the Lord of the Rings, Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King (and many more of his books), anything written by C.S. Lewis, What We Talk About When We Talk About God by Rob Bell, and – of course – the Harry Potter series.

As for media, I’m a huge movie buff with a passion for great films. I’m a firm believer that some of the most valuable lessons in life can be learned through storytelling. The Shawshank Redemption remains my favorite movie of all time, but lately Boyhood has taken a close second. Due to my stellar father, I can nearly quote every line from the Back to the Future series, and you’ll probably have to tell me to shut up if we ever watch them in the same room. The same goes for Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure. On the music side, I love a wide-range of genres and have recently started a small vinyl collection. Some of my favorite artists include Mae, Sufjan Stevens, Typhoon, Johnnyswim, Walk the Moon, Neon Trees, and Mumford & Sons. My guilty high school pleasure is Relient K. I’ve also been known to send Snapchat videos with the song “Photograph” by Nickleback to help ruin somebody’s day.

While I didn’t grow up reading comic books, I am fairly savvy about all things Marvel. If you ever want to have a lengthy conversation about why One New Day was the worst thing to happen to Spider-Man, or the intricacies of movie rights in regards to Marvel Studios, I’m only a tweet away. The day Sony and Marvel declared a partnership to allow Spider-Man into the MCU was like Christmas for me.

That’s all for now, but I look forward to meeting you and having a good discussion. Thanks for visiting!
